Donna Usher, RN Receives DAISY Award

Congratulations to Donna Usher, RN of the Outpatient Surgery Department for receiving the DAISY Award for the 2nd Quarter of 2024!
Donna graduated from Richmond Community College in Hamlet, NC, with her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1992. She began her career at Byerly Hospital in July of 1998 in the Women & Children’s Services department as an RN in Postpartum. In 2012, Donna transferred to the Outpatient Surgery department, where she continues to make a significant impact today.
Throughout her 25-year career with Carolina Pines, Donna has made many positive contributions to the nursing profession. She has demonstrated her commitment to being a lifelong learner, as evidenced by her successful completion of her BSN degree this year from Western Governors University.
Donna is a passionate nurse who truly cares about her patients’ outcomes. She is empathetic to each patient’s situation and works diligently to ensure their needs are met. Recognized by patients and peers alike as trustworthy and an excellent team member, Donna’s work ethic is admirable. Her love for the nursing profession is evident through her dedication to patient care, always prioritizing the needs of her co-workers, patients, and their families above her own.
Donna was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient’s family member, who noted her exceptional care both before and after their sister’s procedure. It was clear to them that Donna genuinely cares for her patients, and they felt blessed to have her support. Her dedication, dependability, and competence, along with her thoughtful and caring nature, make her highly respected by her coworkers and physicians.
Donna is married to a Cardiac Rehab Nurse at McLeod Cheraw, who praises her as a wonderful wife and homemaker. They have three boys: Allen, Steve, and Joel. The family attends Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC. Donna enjoys yoga and decorating her yard and home, and she takes great pride in her Scottish heritage.
