Three Carolina Pines Nurses Honored with 2025 Palmetto Gold Award for Excellence in Nursing

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three exceptional nurses who have been honored with the prestigious 2025 Palmetto Gold Award.
Each year, the Palmetto Gold program recognizes nurses from diverse practice settings across South Carolina through a rigorous nomination and selection process. Award recipients exemplify excellence in the nursing profession, demonstrating unwavering compassion, leadership, and dedication to their patients, families, student nurses, and colleagues. They play a vital role in advancing the profession by mentoring others, fostering professional growth, and actively engaging in civic and community initiatives.
Established in 2002 by a coalition of South Carolina nursing leaders, Palmetto Gold was created to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses to patient care while also raising funds to support nursing scholarships. The selection process is highly competitive, with a panel of six nurses from across the state reviewing nominations blindly - without knowledge of the nominees' names or workplaces. Each year, only 100 nurses are selected from hundreds of nominations, making this recognition a true honor.
This year, CPRMC is proud to have three nurses among the distinguished 100 honorees:
- Ashley Brown, MSN, RN
- Komesha Ashe, MSN, RN
- Karen Hunter, BA, RN
"Our nurses go above and beyond every day, and it is an honor to see their dedication recognized at the state level," said Christy Moody, Chief Nursing Officer at CPRMC. "Ashley, Komesha, and Karen exemplify the heart of nursing - providing compassionate, skilled care while uplifting those around them. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful for the impact they make in our hospital and community."
The honorees will be celebrated at the 22nd Annual Palmetto Gold Gala on April 26 in Columbia, SC.
