iThe goal of our sports medicine program is to get each patient back to the highest level of physical activity possible, whether that means returning to a daily two-mile jog or reporting for grade school, collegiate or professional practice. Our team includes orthopaedic surgeons, family medicine specialists, physical therapists, athletic trainers and fitness experts, who work together to tailor treatment plans to each patient's needs.
Whether you’re a professional athlete or a recreational competitor, an injury can prevent you from enjoying your sport and can even make everyday activities challenging. As an athlete, you want a doctor who has experience in sports medicine, and a care program that can help you regain mobility, strength and fitness.
Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center’s sports medicine specialists are experienced at diagnosing and treating a wide range of sports-related injuries. Our sports medicine doctors work closely with rehabilitation specialists and athletic trainers to help you return to your sport as quickly as possible. We offer advanced diagnosis and treatment for a variety of sports injuries, including:
Carolina Pines' Certified Athletic trainers, under the direction of Dr. Aaron Wynkoop, Orthopaedic Surgeon, are highly-trained healthcare professionals specializing in injury prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, rehabilitation and therapy, safety, and other sports related matters. These athletic trainers work with area schools to provide onsite services at a variety of local games, matches, and events. The athletic trainers work alongside coaches, physicians, parents, and school administrators to provide a safe and healthy environment for student-athletes, both on and off the field.
These athletic trainers, and their directing physician, are specialists with “in-game” acute care. They provide services such as injury evaluations, protective taping and bracing, monitoring environmental conditions, honoring return-to-play protocols, and ensuring that proper follow-up care is administered quickly and safely. In many cases, these athletic trainers will also take part in rehabilitation and therapy services, providing the necessary protection and following safety precautions when the athlete returns to their sport.
Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center offers sports medicine coverage to Coker University, McBee High School, SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics and Hartsville High School.
