Carolina Pines Medical Group Welcomes New OB/GYN, Dr. Ashekia Pinckney
February 19, 2024

Carolina Pines Medical Group recently added Dr. Ashekia Pinckney, OB/GYN, to its Women’s Care practice. Dr. Pinckney brings more than six years of experience to the practice after earning a number of awards and honors throughout her undergraduate, graduate, and medical residency education.
Dr. Pinckney most recently practiced for the OB Hospitalist Group at McLeod Health in Florence, South Carolina, and before that was an OB/GYN at the University of Tennessee Region One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. She says she is excited to join Carolina Pines and bring her advocacy for women’s health back to the area that raised her.
“Women's health has always been a passion of mine and my passion has now grown into my purpose,” said Dr. Pinckney. “I believe that if you educate a woman, you educate an entire family because women are usually the people responsible for the healthcare needs of the family.
“I am looking forward to growing my practice at Carolina Pines and taking care of the women of this community,” she added. “I hope to build a legacy where one day I see women in the city telling me that I delivered their children, and eventually, their children's children.”
Dr. Pinckney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. She completed an Obstetrics Gynecology Intern Residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and an Obstetrics Gynecology Residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. She also served as a clinical instructor and residency program director at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine.
“We believe Dr. Pinckney is a great addition to our Women’s Care team at Carolina Pines Medical Group,” said Bill Little, CEO of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. “Her skill, compassion and advocacy will serve patients well as we grow this service line to better meet the women’s health needs of our area.”
Dr. Pinckney will work at Carolina Pines Medical Group’s Women’s Care services, located at 701 Medical Park Drive, Suite 304 in Hartsville. Patients can schedule an appointment with her online at themedicalgroup.com/womens-care or by calling 843.383.2764.
