CPRMC Achieves Historic Sepsis Certification from The Joint Commission
December 27, 2024
Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) is proud to announce that it’s the first hospital in South Carolina to earn Sepsis Certification from The Joint Commission, the nation's leading authority in healthcare quality improvement and accreditation. This prestigious certification highlights CPRMC’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care for patients battling sepsis, a life-threatening condition requiring immediate and effective treatment.
The certification follows an extensive onsite evaluation, during which The Joint Commission assessed the hospital’s adherence to its rigorous performance standards. These standards emphasize safety, effectiveness, and the use of evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
Sepsis, a potentially fatal condition caused by the body’s extreme response to infection, demands rapid diagnosis and coordinated treatment to reduce mortality rates. CPRMC underwent a thorough review of its processes for early detection, timely interventions, and integrated care for sepsis patients. The evaluation also highlighted the hospital’s dedication to performance measurement, staff education, and strict adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
“This achievement is a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work,” said Faith Kelley, Sepsis and Quality Clinical Coordinator at CPRMC. “We have tirelessly developed and implemented processes that prioritize patient care, ensuring the best outcomes for those battling sepsis. I am incredibly proud of our team’s unwavering commitment to saving lives every day.” Kelley spearheaded the development of CPRMC’s inpatient Sepsis Program, which has played a pivotal role in achieving this groundbreaking certification.
Earning The Joint Commission’s Sepsis Certification establishes Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center as a leader in healthcare innovation and excellence. This achievement reflects the hospital’s dedication to advancing clinical practices and improving outcomes for patients with sepsis and other critical conditions.
