Carolina Pines Medical Group Adds Family Nurse Practitioner to Primary Care Practice
April 24, 2024

Carolina Pines Medical Group (CPMG), the physicians’ group and care clinics affiliated with Carolina Regional Medical Center (CPRMC), added a new Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) familiar to many in the Hartsville community.
Rob Campbell, who served the CPMG Primary Care practice since 2017 as a registered nurse (RN), recently completed his FNP certification and can now begin seeing his own patients. As an FNP-BC, Campbell can prescribe treatments, order tests, and diagnose patients ‒ duties typically associated with physicians but not performed by RNs.
“We are thrilled to support Rob’s professional aspirations and welcome him to this new role within our Primary Care practice,” said Dr. Brian Sponseller, CPMG's Chief Medical Officer. "Rob is very personable and knowledgeable and has worked hard to advance his career in medicine. He has been a valuable member of our team and this new role allows him to make an even greater impact on the health of our patients and community.”
Campbell brings 13 years of nursing experience and four college degrees to the position. His FNP training included more than 580 hours interning at Carolina Pines with Dr. Bill Martin and Tonnie Spivey, APRN, in the areas of geriatrics, women’s health, and primary care of infants, adolescents and adults.
“I’m grateful to Dr. Sponseller and Dr. Martin who taught me a lot, gave me confidence, and put the idea in my head to pursue a role as a practitioner,” said Campbell. “I really enjoy getting to know patients and doing my best to keep them healthy. I am excited to be a part of a great team that supports each other while caring for our community.”
Campbell, originally from Massachusetts, is married to Gail, his wife of 22 years. They have two children, Madison, a freshman at the University of South Carolina, and Brady, a junior at Mayo High School.
Campbell is now welcoming new patients at Carolina Pines Medical Group Primary Care located at 701 Medical Park Drive, Suite 207 in Hartsville. Patients can schedule an appointment with him by calling 843.383.2764.
