DAISY Award Winner, Annie Thompson, RN
February 25, 2022
Congratulations to our DAISY Award Winner for the 1st quarter of 2022, Mrs. Annie Thompson!
Annie was born and raised in Pine Ridge, SC. She graduated from Hartsville High School in 1980 and continued her education at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1984. Due to her husband’s military career, they relocated over the years. As such, Annie has had the opportunity to work in DeRidder, Louisiana, Honolula, Hawaii and Clarksville, Tennessee. She began her medical career at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in September of 2002 in PACU/ICU. She transferred to her current position as the Patient Advocate in April of 2017.
Annie loves to sing and dance. You can see her often in the hall singing lightly as she pushes her cart going up stairs to see patients. Anytime you come to her home she will whip up something to feed you. She loves to nap, watch murder investigation shows, and football in her down time. (GO COWBOYS!) She has 16 siblings and is an active member of her church, where she plays the drums and keyboard. She has 2 sons, 2 daughters and 1 grandson.
The first impression that you get from Mrs. Annie is like no other: quiet, gentle, understanding, kind, loving encouraging and compassionate, just to name a few. She provides excellent and safe care to our patients and is prompt in lending a hand when needed to ensure each patient has the quality of care that they deserve. She is very committed to the job she does, and her patients and her work are her top priority. She strives to ensure patient satisfaction and goes above and beyond the scope of her job description. Annie was willing to learn new computer skills so she could help her patients. She has come in on her days off to let a family FaceTime their loved one, so they could celebrate their birthday or an anniversary. The COVID pandemic has been hard at times for so many patients and their family members and Annie did whatever she could to give them the opportunity and a chance to FaceTime each other.
Annie’s patient care skills, strong teamwork and positive attitude are only a few of the reasons why she became a nurse. Her compassion and eagerness to help people is contagious, as is her work ethic. In addition, the love she shows our patients and her co-workers is truly a blessing to our facility and to all.
