Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center Hosts Project SEARCH Graduation
Carolina Pines Hires John Snyder, Project SEARCH Intern Upon Graduation
Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center hosted a graduation ceremony for the 2022-2023 Project SEARCH Interns on Thursday, May 18th. John Snyder, a senior at Hartsville High School; Emma Tyce, a senior at Hartsville High School; and Disir Plummer, a senior at Darlington High School graduated from Project SEARCH with family, friends, mentors, and hospital staff in attendance.
Darlington County School District, in partnership with Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, launched the Project SEARCH Program in 2018. The purpose of this program is to place students with developmental disabilities in a real-world work environment, to assist them in learning the transferable and marketable job skills they need to be ready for employment after high school. Interns are placed in a variety of departments throughout CPRMC, participating in six-week rotations to better understand how different departments function, as well as get a feel for which they enjoyed most.
Over the years, Carolina Pines has employed several Project SEARCH graduates, and we are excited to announce that John Snyder will join our work family as well. He will soon begin his career as a Patient Registration Clerk in the Patient Registration Department. John’s sense of humor and sweet spirit has captured the hearts of so many at Carolina Pines, and we are thrilled that he will officially be coming on board.
Project SEARCH is a national program in 48 states and nine countries, according to the school district. There are 14 sites in South Carolina alone and in industries from banking to chemical companies to universities and state and local governments. According to the district, Project SEARCH programs across the state average around 95 percent employability rate once those students go through the program. Carolina Pines’ Project SEARCH Program is led by Donna Cameron, Program Instructor, and Tena Forte, Skills Trainer.
